This half term our topic is called ‘What is it like in Italy?’, which has a Geography focus. We will be learning how to use maps to focus in on Europe and then Italy. We will compare Italy to the UK.
In Maths over the term, we will be looking at: decimals with 2 places in relation to fractions, division and capacity, describing and plotting coordinates, using formal methods to divide and some more data handling work - interpreting different charts and graphs.
In English we will be looking at traditional tales from Italy, with a focus on interesting word choices. We will use these to help us write our own tales. Also we will practice skills such as using apostrophes for omission and possession.
We will continue to practice spelling rules such as suffixes and prefixes and to practice spelling the words on the Year3/4 list. We will also continue to practice our handwriting style, checking it is consistently neat, legible and joined.
In Guided Reading we will be reading a range of texts and focussing on: reading fluently and accurately, using pauses and body language to generate maximum effect and looking at how the author has used different sentence types.
