The successful approach to the teaching of science at Binley Woods results in a fun, engaging, high quality science education, that provides children with the foundations for understanding the world that they can take with them once they complete their primary education. So much of science lends itself to experiential learning, and so we provide children with opportunities to experience this.
We measure the impact of our curriculum through the following methods:
- Assessing children’s understanding of vocabulary before and after the unit is taught
- Asssessent of pupil discussions about their learning
- Quizzes and use of knowledge organisers
- Interviewing the pupils about the learning (pupil voice)
- Moderation staff meeting where pupils books are scritnised…
- Assessment judgements are made termly and data is saved in our data management system enabling us to monitor progress over time.
- Pupil voice is used to further develop the Science curriculum, through questioning of pupils
