With over 200 free trees kindly sent from the Woodland Trust, we set out on a soggy day of tree planting in March. The aim was to extend our Forest School area on the backfield, as well as to add to some existing trees at the back of the Year 1 outside area.
We talked to the children about the positive impact that these trees will have on the environment. The Queen's Green Canopy is a nationwide project created to mark the Queen's platinum Jubilee. The initiative was extended to the end of March in honour of Her Majesty and our trees have been added to the map.
The Reception children planted flowering plants to improve our outdoor environment.
The children in Year 5 grew their own vegetables as part of the D&T learning to make into soup.
